What is TypeLords

World's First Complete Typing Platform

Typing is the most-performed motor skill in modern life and almost nobody is ever taught it. TypeLords is built for the whole of that skill — learning it, practising it, proving it, and competing with it.

Most typing sites hand you a number and stop there. TypeLords spans the full lifecycle of a typist: structured lessons for people starting from nothing, targeted practice for people who have plateaued, graded certification for people who need proof, contests for people who want a real ranking, and an arcade for people who would rather play than drill. All of it free, and all of it connected — every activity advances the same Journey and earns the same TL Coins.

Why it's free

Typing is a foundational skill, and charging for foundational skills mostly filters out the people who need them. So every activity, every level, every certificate and every reward on TypeLords is free — not free-for-now, not free-until-the- certificate, and not free-with-a-daily-cap.

The platform is funded by TypeLords Pro, an optional subscription that removes ads and doubles TL Coin earnings. It deliberately unlocks nothing, because the moment a subscription gates a lesson, the promise above stops being true.

Where this is going

The long version of the ambition is simple: make TypeLords the place a typist can spend their entire arc — from the first time they find the home row by feel, to certifying at a speed an employer will accept, to holding a global rank.

Built in Goa, India by Chetan Kumbhar, and shipped in the open — new activities, languages and games land continuously.

Questions people ask

Is TypeLords really free?

Yes. Every activity, every level, every certificate and every reward is free for everyone, with no trial clock and no locked tier.

  • No credit card is required at any point, including for certificates.
  • Nothing is gated behind an account — signing in only saves your progress.
  • TypeLords Pro exists, but it removes ads and doubles TL Coin earnings; it unlocks nothing.
  • There is no plan to paywall activities later.
What makes TypeLords different from a typing test site?

Most typing sites do one thing: they measure you. TypeLords covers the whole arc of the skill, from never having touch typed to competing globally and certifying for work.

  • A test tells you your number; it doesn't teach you anything or make you faster.
  • Learning, practice, testing, competition, career prep and games all live in one place.
  • Progress carries across activities through a shared Journey and TL Coins.
  • Certificates are verifiable on a public link rather than a screenshot.
Do I need an account to use TypeLords?

No. You can practise without signing in. An account exists so your results, rank and coins persist between sessions.

  • Type25 on this page runs immediately with no sign-in at all.
  • Signing in saves your history so you can see a trend rather than a single score.
  • Certificates need an account, because they carry your name and a public link.
  • Contests need an account so rankings can be attributed.
How does TypeLords measure typing speed?

Speed is reported in words per minute, using the long-standing convention that one word equals five characters including spaces and punctuation, so scores stay comparable across passages and languages.

  • Accuracy is tracked separately rather than folded silently into the headline number.
  • Consistency — the steadiness of your pace — is reported too, because two typists can share an average and not share a skill level.
  • Passages are fresh, so you can't rehearse your way to a flattering score.
  • There's more on the arithmetic in our guide to what WPM actually means.
Who is TypeLords for?

Anyone whose hands are on a keyboard, at any level — but it's built especially for people who need typing for something specific: an exam, a job application, a career, or a competitive edge.

  • Complete beginners who have never touch typed start at TypeAcademy.
  • Students preparing for government or clerical typing exams can rehearse the format.
  • Working professionals close the gap between practice speed and speed under pressure.
  • Gamers and competitive typists have contests and duels with real rankings.
